Shahril takes well-earned top five finish for the JTT at Estoril

The Malaysian rider converts his best ever qualifying into his best finish yet in Portugal

Danial Shahril led the Junior Talent Team charge at the Circuito do Estoril, converting a best ever qualifying on Row 2 into a top five finish – also his best yet in the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship. The Malaysian battled near the front throughout in largely dry but tricky conditions in Portugal, taking that P5 to add a big haul of points to his total so far in 2024.

Elsewhere for the Junior Talent Team, wildcard Kiattisak Singhapong had a solid Sunday as the Thai rider made his first ever appearance in JuniorGP™, with the changing conditions certainly adding to the challenge. However, a top 20 result is a great first outing, and he also finished ahead of Jakkreephat Phuettisan after a tougher weekend for his compatriot. Phuettisan will be looking to move further forward next time out in Barcelona as he looks to leverage his increasing experience.

Finally, Amon Odaki had the toughest run of all. After difficult conditions on Saturday affected his qualifying, the Japanese rider missed the cut to race and will be looking for some big revenge in Round 3 – especially after taking points in his very first weekend in JuniorGP™ at Misano.

The JTT now head for the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for Round 3, with two more races back on the agenda as Shahril aims for that maiden podium and his fellow JTT riders look to reset and reload.
