Under the blazing Barcelona sun the Junior Talent Team riders impress in qualifying
In fine style Tatchakorn Buasri completed another strong qualifying performance in 2022 posting a time that would have seen him start 5th. But, due to a penalty for the bike’s minimum weight lower than the limit, Buasri will start 8th. Despite the penalty, an 8th place start means the Thai rider makes it a 100% success rate for starting on the first three rows of the grid this year in the Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship. As with most of the field, Buasri’s fastest time came in the morning qualifying session thanks to considerably cooler track temperatures which, for the Junior Talent Team riders, didn’t hinder their qualifying efforts as all were down to a good pace right from the off.
Malaysian Danial Shahril enjoyed by far his best qualifying of the year as he will start tomorrow’s races from 6th on the grid. Cancelled laps and penalties see the Malaysian promoted onto the back of the second row of the grid from what was an expected 9th.
Eddie O’Shea also received a boost due to penalties as the 15-year-old Brit inherits a third row start. After initially looking to have qualified in a season’s best of 11th, O’Shea will launch from 9th position tomorrow.
Finally, Indonesia’s Arbi Aditama starts 16th, a season’s best qualifying result for him too and Aditama’s lap time was less than 1 second off Buasri’s, showing just how the tight the Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ field is here in Barcelona.
A qualifying day full of positives complete, a race day full of promise awaits! The Junior Talent Team riders face two races in the heat tomorrow with temperatures expected to soar to over 30°C for race 2 in the afternoon. But before that, join us at 11:00 (GMT+2) as the lights go out for Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ race 1 and then just 3 hours later for race 2 at 14:00 (GMT+2)!
