A solid sixth for Buasri in Portimao

The Thai takes top JTT honours while O’Shea bags another Top 10, Aditama scores best result as Shahril misses out

The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve played host to Round 5 of the Finetwork FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship with many strong performances from the Junior Talent Team riders. Starting from 8th on the grid, Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Racing Thailand) was involved in a battle for 5th on the final lap. The Thai came home in 6th spot and taking some solid points from the weekend and finding form once again after a run of three races outside the Top 10.

Also in the battle for 5th was teammate Eddie O’Shea, The Brit was showing strongly, leading the group for much of the race. However, the British Talent Team rider was shuffled back in the closing stages but crossed the line in 8th and making it three points-scoring finishes on the bounce, the first time he has done so in his JuniorGP™ career.

It was a day to remember for Arbi Aditama (Astra Honda Racing Team), the rookie taking his best result of the season with 13th. Starting from 24th on the grid, the Indonesian came out on top of a race long battle involving eight riders holding off Alessandro Morosi (AC Racing Team) by 0.036s on the run to the line.

Further back, Danial Shahril (Asia Talent Team) was also involved in the group with his teammate but couldn’t make the same progress, the rookie found himself in 18th and missing out on points by 0.337s. However, the Malaysian showed strong race craft and will be eager to bounce back next time out at Misano.

The JuniorGP™ paddock now goes on a seven-week summer break and the JTT will be back in action at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on the 2-3 of September.
