Junior Talent Team take on Catalunya

9 Jun 2021

The next round of the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship sees the team back on track in Barcelona

The Junior Talent Team is ready to race again this weekend, with Round 3 of the FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship seeing the paddock drop anchor at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The team already tested at the venue in preseason, minus the then-injured Tatchakorn Buasri, and return to the familiar turf for two more Moto3™ races.

Takuma Matsuyama arrives fresh from a podium in FIM CEV Repsol terms, with the Japanese rider having taken his first rostrum finish in the FIM Moto3™ JWCh last time out at Valencia. He also arrives straight from riding in the Moto3™ World Championship with Honda Team Asia, as a replacement rider and wildcard, over the last three races. The most recent venue? Barcelona. He’ll be looking to use those kilometres to help him fight at the front once again with the Junior Talent Team.

Mario Aji also arrives ready to battle it out for glory. The Indonesian was hundredths off a first podium in Portugal before taking another top five in Valencia,  and he’s had some good form in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup this season too. He’s ridden at Catalunya before with the Junior Talent Team too, in preseason testing this year and at the start of the 2019 event, although he missed the rest of that weekend through injury. He’ll be looking to use his experience to quickly get re-acquainted with the battle at the front.

On the other side of the coin, Tatchakorn Buasri and Eddie O’Shea will be on an experience-finding mission to begin the weekend. Buasri of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the Thai rider hasn’t raced there before, having joined the team last season as a rookie and the calendar not visiting the emblematic track. He also missed testing, so he’ll be pushing to get the most out of practice sessions to close the gap. O’Shea, meanwhile, did test at the track and he’ll be hoping to make that count from the off as he continues to gain experience of his Junior Talent Team machinery and the FIM Moto3™ JWCh.

Moto3™ go racing twice on Sunday the 13th of June, with Race 1 at 11:00 (GMT +2) and the lights set to go out for Race 2 at 14:00. Make sure to tune in!
