The hunt for some better luck – and more podiums – starts now
After a more difficult weekend on the Algarve, the Junior Talent Team are reset and reloaded to go again as Round 5 appears on the horizon. The track is MotorLand Aragon, the summer heat awaits, and there’s one more FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship race worth 25 points on the table.
Mario Aji remains the lead JTT rider in the standings thanks to his consistent run of good points hauls to begin the year, but bad luck stopped the Indonesian’s charge in both Barcelona and Portimão so he’ll first be looking to avoid any more of that. The mission thereafter will remain the top five and that first podium, having got so close already, to reward the impressive progress he’s put on show in the 2021 FIM Moto3™ JWCh.
Takuma Matsuyama has also suffered some bad luck of late and will be aiming to join Aji in that fight near the front. Already a podium finisher this season, the Japanese rider wants to get back on the box and flip his form – and now has a few Grands Prix of good experience to use as he looks to get back in the hunt for that first win.
For Tatchakorn Buasri, meanwhile, the goal will remain some solid points. His best finish so far this season came at Catalunya where he bagged 12th, and he’ll be looking to start knocking on the door to the top ten again – as well as move forward on Saturday, giving him a little less work to do once the lights go out. The Thai rider has already taken points at MotorLand, and will use that as a springboard.
Finally, for Eddie O’Shea, the learning curve continues. The Brit has the slightly bigger challenge of one race at MotorLand – a long and technical circuit – meaning a little less track time than at some other rounds. He’ll be aiming to keep learning and improving as he continues to cut the gap to those ahead, consistently gaining chunks of time as each weekend goes on.
Tune in for the FIM Moto3™ JWCh race at Aragon at 13:00 (GMT +2) on Sunday!
